The mining sector had a strong year on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Toronto Venture Exchange, according to a December report from Market Intelligence Group. In 2016, which saw 40 new mining listings in comparison to 29 in 2015, the sector’s market capitalization on the exchanges increased by 55 per cent, and the amount of equity capital raised increased by 38 per cent year over year. As of December there were 1,206 listed mining issuers on both exchanges, making up 39 per cent of all listed issuers.
