Welcome back to your Friday mining news recap. It’s joint venture week in the mining world. On Monday not one, but two joint ventures were announced. A resolution of the Barrick-Newmont saga over the Nevada properties ended a week of mudslinging between the two CEOs and Newcrest Mining acquired a majority share of Imperial Metals’ Red Chris mine in British Columbia. There was also the stop and restart of work at Goldcorp’s Cerro Negro mine in Argentina and Hudbay announced a new shareholder rights plan.
