The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame (CMHF) announced on Sept. 29 that it will induct Lukas Henrik Lundin, James Stockton Redpath, Anthony Paul Makuch, Ron Nolan and Neil Woodyer into its ranks in 2027. 

The CMHF recognizes individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to Canada’s mining industry and its role as a global mining leader, as well as those who have inspired future generations. 

The 2027 inductees were announced by Robert Boyd, president, CEO and director of Endurance Gold Corporation and the CMHF’s new chair. They will join more than 210 individuals who have been inducted into the CMHF since its founding in 1989. 

“These five individuals are exemplary leaders, and their careers reflect a lasting legacy in advancing a more sustainable, responsible and prosperous mining industry,” Boyd said in the press announcement. 

CMHF is posthumously recognizing Lukas Henrik Lundin, a Canadian mining entrepreneur who spent four decades building resource companies and pursuing discoveries and mining opportunities around the world. He began working with the Lundin Group in the early 1980s and helped advance the Bajo de la Alumbrera copper-gold deposit in Argentina, which was later sold to Rio Algom for US$510 million. He went on to help build companies including Lundin Gold, Argentina Gold, Red Back Mining and Lucara Diamond, while also advancing major projects such as Tenke Fungurume in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Fruta del Norte in Ecuador. Lundin died in 2022.  

James Stockton Redpath, who died in 2025, was a mining engineer and entrepreneur who founded J.S. Redpath Ltd., a mining contracting firm focused on shaft sinking in North Bay, Ontario, at 26 years old. The company is now known as Redpath Mining Contractors and Engineers and is a global mining contractor with over 6,400 employees worldwide. Throughout his career, Redpath was a strong advocate for safety, integrity, innovation and the development of mining professionals.  

Anthony (Tony) Paul Makuch is a Canadian mining executive who has held senior operational roles with Kinross Gold, Dynatec and FNX Mining and became president and CEO of Lake Shore Gold in 2008. He took over as president and CEO of Kirkland Lake Gold in 2016, where he is credited with helping to turn the company from a mid-tier producer into a major gold company. His tenure culminated in the $13.5billion merger of Kirkland Lake Gold with Agnico Eagle Mines in 2022.  He is currently president and CEO of Discovery Silver, which acquired the Porcupine gold complex in Timmins, Ontario, from Newmont in 2025  

Ron Nolan is an engineer and entrepreneur who served as president, CEO and chair of Hatch for 16 years. Under his leadership, Hatch experienced significant growth in business volume, employees and offices. Among the major projects he contributed to is the Richards Bay Minerals New Titania Operation in South Africa, the ISCOTT direct reduction steel-making facility in Trinidad and Inco’s Sulfur Dioxide Abatement Project in Sudbury, Ontario. Nolan has also held leadership roles with several organizations, including as a founding member and vice-chair of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and as chair of the boards of Hatch Mott MacDonald, the Council of Canadian Academies and the N-Solv Corporation. 

Neil Woodyer is a mining financier, entrepreneur and company builder whose career in metals and mining spans more than five decades. He founded Endeavour Financial in 1988, which grew into a major mining finance and advisory firm that helped raise capital for companies including Bema Gold and Wheaton Precious Metals. He later founded Endeavour Mining in 2002 and Leagold Mining in 2016, building both into significant gold producers through acquisitions and project development. In 2020, Woodyer founded Aris Mining, where he is currently the chair and CEO. The company operates the Segovia and Marmato gold mines in Colombia and is advancing projects in Colombia and Guyana. 

The inductees will be honoured at the CMHF’s annual dinner and induction ceremony on January 14, 2027, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre
