This past May, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) accepted Orano’s application to revoke its mining and milling licence for the Cluff Lake uranium project in northern Saskatchewan. While uranium miners from the early 20th century would likely have raised eyebrows at the time and responsibility it took for Orano to move on from the project, for the company and the province, it was cause for celebration.
