Komatsu America’s new HD785-8 off-highway haul truck is built for improved maneuverability and travel performance for mining operations. According to Komatsu, the HD785-8 is equipped with a seven-speed, fully-automatic transmission, which helps reduce material spillage while its turning radius of 10.0584 metres offers easier positioning and loading. The automatic retard speed control also controls downhill travel speed. “The HD785-8 has excellent travel performance on grade, and wet multiple disc brakes on all four wheels provide great downhill brake retarding performance,” Robert Hussey, product marketing manager at Komatsu America, said in a press release.  “It delivers fast acceleration out of the pit and the new cab keeps operators comfortable during long shifts.” The HD785-8 comes with a payload capacity of 92.2 metric tonnes and has 1,140 horsepower.
