Derrick’s new 8-deck SuperStack vibratory screening machine is designed to add up to three times screening capacity as compared to its preceding 5-deck StackSizer without taking up significantly more space. Each of the decks features a 30-to-35 per cent increase in effective screening width versus each deck on the StackSizer. This allows the SuperStack to operate at two-and-a-half to three times the capacity without taking up significantly more space. This increased capacity directly translates to cost savings by reducing “both the upfront installation cost as well as the ongoing operating maintenance cost over the life of the equipment,” said Todd Burchett, vice-president of mining and industrial division at Derrick. “Where you would normally need 10 of the StackSizers, you now only need four or five of the SuperStacks, requiring half the number of motors.” The SuperStack uses a front-to-back, rather than side-to-side, screen tensioning system that the company said helps reduce time required to change out screen panels by 80 to 90 per cent.
