If the mining industry is truly interested in re-imagining how value is extracted from rocks in the ground, its members could do a lot better than going back and forth with each other about how to innovate. "Don't look within your own domain for the answers. That will just allow you to make things more efficient," says Dalia Asterbadi a systems engineer, Stanford grad and a leader in the development of the "software as a service" model.
The task, she says, is to use the available tools, think differently and move quickly.
