Nuclear energy is staging a comeback. Uranium prices have nearly tripled in the last three years and more than doubled since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. In January 2024, spot prices for U3O8—a lightly processed concentrate known as yellowcake—peaked at US$106 per pound, the highest since the start of 2008, and were at about US$80 per pound in late November.
