Fatigue plays a significant role in industrial work performance, safety and productivity. Drivers operating haulage equipment in the mining industry face a high risk for fatigue due to the primarily perceptual-motor requirements. To address this issue, wearable technologies for fatigue detection have been marketed to transport and haulage operators in the mining industry. However, few devices have been independently validated, especially in the field setting.

Join presenter Emily Tetzlaff, Health & Safety Project Analyst at Torex Gold Resources, as she shares findings from a field evaluation of the SmartCap© wearable fatigue detection device, among mobile operators in an open-pit mine. She will share insight on worker acceptance and usability of the wearable fatigue detection device in a mining field environment as well as the device's effectiveness at reducing operator fatigue.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Nelson Bodnarchuk, Vice President Health & Safety at Torex Gold Resources.
