It was 2012 and the mining industry was struggling. In short, it was a bad time to launch a new company. But that didn’t stop Shastri Ramnath. At the time, Ramnath was president and CEO of Toronto-based junior explorer Bridgeport Ventures (which was months away from a reverse takeover by Premier Gold) and Ramnath was planning to set out on her own and start a geological consulting firm. As part of that plan, she wanted Ashley Kirwan, her friend and colleague of five years, to join her.
