The Canadian government outlined its $2.2 billion abandoned mine sites remediation program in the Yukon and the Northwest Territories on Tuesday, naming eight sites that will receive funding to clean up the sites over the next 15 years.

The mines that will receive funding are the Faro, United Keno Hill, Mount Nansen, Ketza River and Clinton Creek mines in the Yukon; as well as the Giant, Cantung and Great Bear Lake mines in the Northwest Territories.
