Global Mining Guidelines Group releases new guideline for implementing short interval control in underground mines
By Matthew Parizot
June 06, 2019

Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) published its latest set of underground mining guidelines on Thursday, this time focusing on short interval control (SIC): a process where data gathered from mining processes are reviewed throughout the day and actions are taken to improve performance.

According to GMG, the use of SIC in underground mining is still relatively new, as underground mining operations can be unpredictable and there is no ready-made solution for implementing it. As such, GMG’s guidelines aim to establish a stable operational framework suitable for underground environments, even for those who are already currently using SIC.
