In August 2019, Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd. (BGM) announced positive results from an independent Preliminary Economic Assessment for its flagship Cariboo Gold project in central British Columbia. The PEA follows close on the heels of the updated resource estimate filed by the company in May 2019, which outlined a measured and indicated underground gold resource of 2.4 million ounces based on 13.2 million tonnes of ore grading 5.6 grams per tonne of gold that stretches over six kilometres and at least 300 metres deep.
