An Alberta ghost town now, Bankhead was once a battle front for the labour movement

Beneath a nearly 3,000-metre iconic mountain in Canada’s first national park lies 300 kilometres of abandoned tunnels that are remnants of its mining history. These underground passages were the daily grind for some 300 workers in Bankhead’s Mine No. 80, owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway, situated on the flanks of Cascade Mountain in Banff National Park.
